Designed by Thomas Hawksley, one of Victorian Britain’s most celebrated civil engineers, Dalton Old Pump House was built circa 1873–1879 to supply clean drinking water to Sunderland and the surrounding district. Constructed in the Venetian Gothic Revival style, the building is a masterpiece of industrial architecture: soaring arched windows, ornate brickwork, and ironwork crafted with a precision rarely seen today.

For decades after falling out of use, Dalton Old Pump House, or as we like to call her Lady Dalton, stood silent and still, a forgotten giant waiting to be rediscovered.

In 2020, new owners began an ambitious restoration to honour her heritage while transforming her into a world-class wedding destination.

Today, she dazzles. Over 80 grand crystal chandeliers cascade light across her interiors. Original features stand proudly alongside elegant modern finishes. And every couple who walks through her doors does so knowing they have this magnificent space entirely to themselves.
